Jubilee Theatre 3 Walters Street, Lowood, QLD

The Lowood Jubilee Theatre was opened on 6th May 1935. It was built, designed and operated by John S. Walters. Seating was provided in stalls & balcony levels. The main Beechwood floor was level so it could be used for dancing. It was closed on June 18, 1966 with Walt Disney’s “Big Red” starring Walter Pidgeon.

It was taken over by a local carpenter to store wood. Today the building is occupied by Wayne’s World, a discount variety store.

Dawnie Hall writes - What a great Theatre & what about the canvas seats, so comfortable. Some of the kids would kick you from behind, when sitting in them. Such wonderful memories for me back in early 60’s. I was born 1953. Dawn Pumfrey.
