View of the Waverley during 1969 owner Jack Plant closed the sweet shop on left of entrance after Saturday morning children’s pictures ceased and opened the new Travel Shop seen right. The building now looks tired and in need of maintenance, however, with dwindling audiences watching television and other interests and low box office receipts could not cope with building and other on costs. At this time even cinema chains were closing and twinning auditoriums.
