On March 23, 1929, the former Moore Opera House and Bijou is going down in a blaze of glory. Here’s the fire department using 2,000,000 gallons of water to try and save the block. Across the street at the historic Kirkland Hotel, stunned guests looked on. Just a month later, the Kirkland would burn down as well.
