Esplande Picture Gardens The Esplande and William Street, Perth, WA - FACADE - 1911
In 1908, King’s Picture Gardens in William Street became the first theatre in Perth designed and built for the presentation of moving pictures with a capacity of 2,000. On Wednesday 27th December 1911 there was a change of ownership and it became Spencer’s Esplanade Gardens, featuring films and boxing events.
