Rapallo Theatre 525 George Street, Sydney, NSW (Previously known as The Victory)
The Victory Theatre House lights down
The Victory theatre was located at 527 George Street Sydney on the site originally occupied by the Colonial No.2 theatre renamed to the Empress in 1913. In 1938 the Empress was refurbished and re-opened on the 16th Dec 1938 as the Victory with Pygmalion starring Leslie Howard.
Operated by exhibitor Greater Union, the Victory theatre was a late entry into CinemaScope and achieved its Scope screen format by lowering the masking height presenting Universal’s Mister Cory as the theatres first anamorphic presentation on the 1st March 1957
