Poitier did not have any first-run movies in 1976. At least, from April, 1977 through June, 1977, the first two Poitier and Cosby comedies “Let’s Do It Again” and “Uptown Saturday Night” were reissued together in several theaters. Poitier’s only first-run film in 1977 was “A Piece of the Action.” The movie opened in October at the Southern, Loews Arlington 2, and Carousel East (Esquire). It was the last of the trio of comedies that he acted with Bill Cosby and he also directed the movies. Next at 50 years old, Sidney Poitier took an eleven-year break from acting.
