This copy of a small photograph in John Thiele’s and Ross Lange’s definitive book* about the (present) Capri theatre, its organ and associated theatres, shows the theatre in the 1940s. Note the neon strip lighting along the face of the marquee which spells out the film starting time. This was a feature of all of the Star theatres with which I was familiar, and they all had the 7.30 start. Note also the neon star standing out from the face of the theatre, which was visible for miles on either side of the theatre in busy Unley and Belair Roads.
