The single story building with awnings and street plantings in front was converted to an air-conditioned cinema internally. Built in the 19th. century, it is situated in a lane just off and parallel to Adelaide’s main thoroughfare, King William Street. The ready availability of videos and DVDs spelt its end and its business was transferred to its closed rival, the Lido in nearby Hindley Street, before that too closed for the second time. Cinemas have moved to suburban complexes nearer their audiences, and though the area is Adelaide’s central shopping district there are now none of the once numerous movie theatres in this part of the city.
