Panorama of Auditorium Mural

View showing approximately half the Right side wall of the auditorium. The figures of African warriors occupied the rear portions of the wall. One would have been to the right of the photo, appearing to chase the group of flying gazelles. At this point, the Crest was being used as a gymnasium. At some point, while still a theatre, the auditorium had its ceiling painted pale blue, and the walls given a covering of sound-fold. If one looks closely at this and the following photos, a strip of wood, with shreds of fabric from the later acoustical treatment, can be seen, with some light blue paint extending down onto the wall beyond the sound-fold mounting strip, indicating the paint was applied to the ceiling first, and the sound-fold applied to the walls immediately after. I was told the gymnasium people removed the sound-fold, so that the murals could be enjoyed again.

To clarify: By African warriors, I am referring to the men on horseback in the next to photos. The kneeling archer (and it’s mate) flanked the screen, which is to the left of the photo.
