Crescent Drive-In

It’s February 5, 1952 and time for the Kirkeby’s newest theater, the $100,000, 350-car Crescent Drive-In to launch with “Thunderhead: Son of Flicka.” And while the Crescent is opening, they’ll make some repairs to their other Abilene facility, the Tower Drive-In. Now let’s fast-forward to May 29, 1977 where the drive-in has likely had a lease expiration closing just after its 25th anniversary as a Spanish-language drive-in on May 29, 1977 with “El misterio de la perla negra” and “Mil millones para una rubia.” The theater would quickly be razed.
