The Armadale Theatre opened in 1912 and is one of the oldest purpose built cinemas that’s still mostly intact.
It was closed as a cinema in 1939 and reopened in 1940 as the New Armadale Theatre presenting vaudeville until around 1942.
Since then it has been a toy factory, a knitwear & clothing firm, a ski school with an indoor ski slope installed, and more recently it was operated as a branch of Sotheby’s Auction House. Currently James Said (interior decorator and restaurant) is on the site. Stonnington History Centre.
