Volney Phifer went from town to town with this “Wizard of Oz” traveling billboard and exhibit. you could meet the lookalike characters in a contest of locals, see the tornado and witness Munchkinland. Since Phifer was said to be in Asheboro at the Capital with this exhibit, this goes here but it’s not clear what city he was in though promoting a Capitol Theatre on this date in 1939.
