The Embassy cinema Maldon was to be Architect David Nye’s first cinema design for Shipmen & King, who were also to use Architect Leslie Kemp as Consulting Architect, Kemp was working at nearby Braintree on his new Embassy there also for S&K. Delay’s during construction meant that Nye’s second design for the aptly named ‘Cinema’ in Sevenoaks Kent which actually had been Nye’s second design for the Sevenoaks Cinema Company. The ‘Cinema’ in Sevenoaks also had the interior designed by Eugene Mollo featuring a flying saucer suspended from the auditorium ceiling!!!!!
