The Embassy Maldon was to be Architect David Nye’s first cinema design was for Shipman & King, who were also to use Architect Leslie Kemp F.R.I.B.A as Consulting Architect. However, delay’s during construction meant it was not Nye’s first cinema to actually open, that privilege went to the aptly named ‘Cinema’ in Sevenoaks Kent which actually had been Nye’s second design for the Sevenoaks Cinema Company.
