Inferno is a 1953 American thriller drama starring Robert Ryan, William Lundigan and Rhonda Fleming, directed by Roy Ward Baker. It was shot in Technicolor and shown in 3-D, with stereophonic sound.
Inferno was 20th Century Fox’s first 3-D film
Inferno was one of the best and last movies to be made in 3-D during the boom in the early ‘50s.
Certainly its use of space emphasized the dramatic possibilities of 3-D and reveals, as more than one person has observed, that the device had largely been squandered in other films made at the time
The theatre - Shuttered for over 15 years, the Oriental Theatre was magnificently restored to its original exotic and over-the-top Indian-Indochinese style appearance in 1996 and reopened in 1998 as the Ford Center for the Performing Arts Oriental Theatre. The theatre is now host to live Broadway stage productions.
On February 12, 2019 the theatre was renamed James M. Nederlander Theatre.

Yes one of the best 3D rich color films ever made. I watched as a kid at the long gone Golden State Fruitvale Theatre in Oakland CA. My first 3D film. Great use of the then brand new stereophonic surround sound wall side speakers. Loved the echo sound effects from the hot desert used in Inferno. One of the few 20th Century Fox 3D movies.
