Architect Alfred John Thraves with Son, who built many cinemas in the Nottingham and surrounding area. R.L. Kemp (Cinemas) Ltd used Thraves & Son for many of their new build cinemas from the New Empire Swadlincote 1931 to 1940 the State Gainsborough. Their very last involvement in cinema work was to be after the war with the rebuilding of the Tower 1n 1950 - 1951.
