In May 1957 the Dominion Theatre closed for minor works and alterations by Surveyors Goddard & Smith. Which included works by F H Pride Ltd., to the stage electrical switchboard, motor dimmers for the circle spot lights and auditorium decorative lighting. Redecorations were carried out by Clark & Fenn Ltd. The refurbished theatre re opened on 16th October with Judy Garland and her own Variety Show staged by Sidney Luft.

The downstairs projection room was removed and replaced by seating after Todd AO screenings ceased. The original projection room can still be seen at the rear of the circle. At one time it had a theatre organ, which has since been removed. The pink light fittings are the original ones.
