Showing signature of George W W Legg. All the interior designs for the Plaza Southsea were carried out by the firm Bryan’s Adamanta, being an anagram of the three Directors, whose Head offices and workshops were in Francis Street, Birmingham. Legg was their Head Scenic Artist from 1927 - 1939 many of his works were executed for Architect Ernest Roberts, of the Birmingham firm Satchwell & Roberts. The Grade II listed Regal cinema Tenbury Wells, which opened on the 27th July 1937 has become a great survivor of both Roberts and Legg’s work. In 2011 - 2012 with the support of a grant of £680,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund the beautiful murals painted by George Legg were restored to their former glory and secured for future generations, whereas those at the former Plaza have now all been obliterated.
