Return to the Rhody 2012

This photo brings back memories of the Rhody. When I was born in 1953, my parents lived in a rental house bordering the property. They could watch the movies out their living room window. We lived in Florence until 1966, and many summer nights were spent at the drive-in (I seem to remember a lot of Elvis Presley movies). I especially recall all-night movie marathons occasionally. The specific memory is waking in the backseat of the station wagon, probably 5 a.m. or so, and seeing my Mom still wide awake, still eating popcorn, watching the 4th or 5th feature film. We would always attend in our pajamas, and play on the swings and slide until the movie started. I remember seeing the Beatles in “A Hard Days Night” there. Plus, the airport was near, and planes would descend for landing right above the screen.
