March 1924 view across Elizabeth Street from Hyde Park showing the cleared David Jones/St James site. Large white building is the Imperial Arcade in Castlereagh Street next door to Rickard’s Tivoli later rebuilt as the Embassy. Located just out of picture further to the right is Fuller’s National (later Roxy/Mayfair). At this time the Fullers were also operating at the Grand Opera House (later renamed Tivoli) near Central Railway and the White designed Newtown Majestic (later renamed Elizabethan).
