Lou Morris like many independent cinema owners of the 1930’s engaged their own architects and sub-contractors they has previously employed and trusted to give value, lowering the costs involved in their investments. The Carlton which Morris purchased from Victor Harrison in 1933. The whole building was demolished save for two outer walls. The new Carlton was rebuilt creating double the size of the auditorium to 1,950 seats, also adding a Compton organ complete with illuminated console. Most of the Morris circuit included organs encouraged by his wife Florence de Jong, who herself was well known as a popular cinema and broadcasting organist. Mollo & Egan were engaged many times for the Morris Cinema Circuit. In 1936 the Carlton cinema was purchased by County Cinemas.
