Carlton Cinema Norwich
Showing the auditorium as designed and decorated by Mollo & Egan. Even this early Mollo always tried to omit light fittings preferring all lighting concealed. The whole auditorium was decorated with cream Marb-L-Cote and stippled in gold and shell pink. Screen curtains were made of cream silk framed by old gold curtains, with a moss green festooned pelmet. On the right of the orchestra pit in its lowered position is the top of the newly installed Compton organ complete with illuminated console. The splay walls feature a modern design in the centre section which conceals ventilation, heating and organ chambers enclosed tall paneling concealing various shades of colour lighting matching those of the Compton organ. Below, coved lighting illuminates the side aisle exit’s.
