Mount Gambier Institute Commercial Street E. and Watson Terrace, Mount Gambier, SA
The historic Kings Theatre in Mount Gambier began as the Mount Gambier Institute (built in 1868), operated as the Ozone Theatre by the Clifford Theatres circuit by 1951, and was renamed Kings Theatre by 1956.
• Original Building: The site started as the Mount Gambier Institute building in 1868, with a second story added in 1887.
• Cinema Era: It transitioned into the Ozone Theatre circuit and was later renamed Kings Theatre, hosting films, school speech nights, live performances, and community events for decades.
• Current Use: In 1988, the building was redeveloped to house the Riddoch Art Gallery. Following further developments—including the creation of the Main Corner cultural precinct—it is now part of the Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre managed by the City of Mount Gambier.
