The dormant AMC Sunset Place box office, located on the second floor of the mall underneath the cinema, taken on December 7, 2025.
Titles that are playing and showtimes are still viewable on the electronic screens, but the blue sign standing in the middle directs people to buy tickets at what is actually customer service inside the cinema’s entrance on the third floor.
Years ago, the open area in front was sometimes roped off to form a line, which would fill up on weekend nights, with most or all of the twelve box office windows in use.
I used to enjoy the communal feeling of standing in line with people whom I did not know who had shown up at the same time as me, all going to the movies, (unless I was concerned the line was making me late for the show, to then discover I had only missed some of the trailers once I got in the auditorium. : ) )
Moviegoers would then take the escalator on the far right of the photo up to the third floor, and walk past eight movie poster boxes to the cinema’s entrance.
Several self-serve kiosks were eventually added along the wall to the right of the box office, and less of the box office windows were staffed… Then a couple years later none of the windows were staffed and just the kiosks were in use… Then at some point the kiosks were removed and customers were directed upstairs.
I still miss the fully operational communal box office experience.
