The ‘Grand Lake’ has two sets of stage curtains. One is even from the demolished Fox Theatre in San Francisco CA.. They both lift up, the second one is a title curtain. The original projectionist retired last year and he knew curtain cues. SOME OF THE ONES THEY HAVE NOW IN THE BOOTH OPEN THE CURTAINS TO A WHITE SCREEN A SHOWMANSHIP NO NO! Wish they kept at least one curtain that opened from the middle side ways. Here is when they have the huge ‘Film Noir Festival’ that used to be held at the Castro Theatre in SF. It has found a new home now at the classic ‘Grand Lake’ in Oakland in Jan or Feb as the ‘Castro’ is mainly used for stage shows now at big admission & drink prices.
