On July 11, 2019, Sheriff Cable Rojek of the Carter County Sheriff’s Department crashed his marked 2009 Ford Crown Victoria into the State Line Drive-In’s screen after losing control while chasing down a vehicle in an afternoon pursuit.

The preliminary report released by the Tennessee Highway Patrol confirms that the pursuit started in Hampton and there were two southbound vehicles on the highway in front of the Crown Victoria. One of which is a 1999 Toyota Corolla and the other being a 2004 Jeep Liberty. Rojek attempted to pass on the right shoulder of the emergency lane. As the Crown Victoria approached to pass, the Jeep began to merge right, swerved left, striking the Toyota. Rojek lost control of his Ford and ran off the roadway, striking the screen of the drive-in.
