Today we are in Coorparoo looking at the former Roxy Theatre during its demolition in 1967 - John Prpic

As with most picture theatres in Brisbane, the introduction of television to Australia on September 16th 1956 resulted in a massive drop in patronage and many theatres closed their doors. The ones the remained reinvented themselves by halving their massive spaces into multiple cinemas, by showing adult films, foreign films or surfing movies. The Roxy Theatre wasn’t one of these and they continued on for a few more years.
