A Unique Film that Pioneered Black Cinema for the Next Decade (1970)

My father saw the movie by himself at Loew’s Morse Road. My brother bought the soundtrack album and I listened to it countless times by myself, also. Finally, my brother and I saw the movie, second-run at the Eastside Auto Theatre. Years later, I saw the film at a retrospective at the Wexner Center for the Arts. The author of the novel, Chester Himes had done time at the Ohio Pentitentiary in Columbus, Ohio. Source: Columbus Dispatch, July 7, 1970
