Construction of the Brice Cinema started on January 19, 1969, led by H.S. Vandive, the executive secretary of the Vandalia Chamber of Commerce, Barron Godbee Jr., the general manager for Pal Amusements, mayor Hugh Dixon, Charles Clifton who helped build the theater, and Pete Brice, the president of Pal Amusements, as they broke the ground that day for the Brice Cinema at the Maxwell Plaza.
