In 1964, a plan was hatched that had major detrimental impact to the CBD and old movie theaters in Houma - and it began (at top) with a standalone Sears (opening in 1966) but had grander plans (at bottom) with a full blown Southland Mall concept that included a suburban luxury cinema that would open in 1968.
