The 1961 Walt Disney live-action musical Babes in Toyland stars Tommy Sands as Tom Piper and Annette Funicello as Mary Contrary. The historic Savoy Theatre in Cathedral Square famously screened films during that era.
Babes in Toyland is a classic, family-friendly Christmas fantasy based on Victor Herbert’s 1903 operetta. In addition to Tommy Sands, it features memorable performances by Ray Bolger as the villain Barnaby and Ed Wynn as the Toymaker.
