The Wintergarden theatre - Brian Pearson writes - It’s no wonder that people mourned and resented its passing.

Too many of our loved assets from the past, not just theatres, have been lost by neglect or the deliberate depredations of ‘highly respectable’ vandals. Those very few of us who saved the Melbourne Regent from demolition know only too well the kinds of people who were ranged against us.
