“The first-class dining room shown above measures 300 ft. by 43 ft. and is the largest public room in the ‘Normandie’ The walls are composed for the most part of decorated and embossed cut glass panels; the coffered ceiling is of fibrous plaster coloured gold and has indirect lighting. The bas-relief panels shown either side have also been carried out in gilt and depicts Norman activities and produce. The outstanding colonnade and pendant lighting of stepped etched glass that runs the entire length of the restaurant was designed and manufactured by the Rene Lalique Glassworks”. Oliver P. Bernard.
