The Paramount/El Capitan Theatre, 6838 Hollywood Blvd. – The July 10, 1958 premiere of Lerner & Loewe’s “Gigi” with Leslie Caron, Maurice Chevalier and Louis Jordan. .
It was a reserved seat engagement with a 4 channel mag print. The image is one that the theatre is displaying in their 100th Birthday exhibit in the lower lounge.
Larry Whitson writes - The first film I saw here was “House of Wax” in 3D. It was the first time I’d ever seen a 3D movie.
Steve Wojo Wojciechowski writes - I was an assistant manager around 1980. Paramount Theatre owned by SRO (Sterling Recreation Organization). It appeared ‘gently used’ but was grand. A few floors of abandoned dressing rooms from way back. Large basement/dungeon with a dark tunnel visible through heavy metal grates. I often wonder if those (haunted?) dressing rooms were ever transformed into offices.
