One Sydney Cinema lost to time is The King’s Theatre. Situated on Marrickville Road (near Victoria Rd) in Marrickville, designed by architects Guy Crick and Bruce W. Purse and built by J. Nyssen.
The opening night was #On This Day 9 April 1937, the two films screened for the occasion were ‘The Devil Is A Sissy’ starring Freddie Bartholomew, and English Music Hall Star George Formby in ‘Keep Your Seats Please’‘ — Today it’s place has been taken by Real Estate Agent offices and apartments.
