The Cinema Sevenoaks
Photograph of the ‘Cinema’ taken several weeks after opening, the front elevation finished with Portland stone facing. The canopy above the main entrance has three pairs of doors, also advertises the current film screening which is ‘Sanders of the River’ starring Paul Robeson. The dominating feature being the seven 10ft high windows which flooded light into the large restaurant and cafe on the first floor. Above the name ‘CINEMA’ is cut into the Portland stone with the masks of Comedy and Tragedy at either end. A stone hood moulding running the entire length concealing neon lighting which was used to illuminate the area below. At street level are two shops one either side of the entrance which let by the cinema.
