The World of Suzie Wong is a 1960 British-American romantic drama film directed by Richard Quine and starring William Holden and Nancy Kwan. The screenplay by John Patrick was adapted from the 1958 stage play by Paul Osborn, which was based on the 1957 novel of the same title by Richard Mason.

(A Paramount Production) Why wasn’t Suzie Wong filmed in VistaVision ??

“The World of Suzie Wong” (1960) was not photographed in VistaVision because that format had become largely obsolete by the time production began. By the late 1950s, major studios, including the film’s distributor Paramount Pictures (which originally developed VistaVision), began phasing out the high-fidelity 35mm horizontal format in favor of more cost-effective and standardized alternatives like Panavision and improved 35mm anamorphic processes. One Eyed Jacks was the last VistaVision production.
