Poitier’s talents and available opportunities brought increased success in 1957. His first-run movies played at three of the Downtown movie palaces throughout the year. In February, “Edge of the City” had an engagement at Loew’s Broad. “Something of Value” played at Loew’s Ohio, in July. In August, RKO Palace ran “Band of Angels.” He did not have the leading role yet in any of these films, but his screen time and billing moved up, this year.
