Sarah Kinstler writes - looking at the children ages in the queue I’m guessing they are mainly brides that married immediately after the war and the children ‘war children’ as in they first flush of births after their fathers returned from war. My mom was 21 when she had me. 12 months after marriage. They didn’t wait back then.
Hoyts De Luxe Theatre was built on the site of the St. George’s Hall which had become Hoyts Picture Theatre in 1912. The Hoyts De Luxe Theatre opened on 27th March 1915 and only showed films, and like many other Melbourne Cinemas had a Wurlitzer organ. The theatre was re-named Hoyts Esquire Theatre from 1946. – Contributed by Greg Lynch –
