Construction was overseen by Samuel Budd, A.M.I.C.E. who in conjunction with MacDonald designed the complex steelwork and prepared plans for the theatre. The new main roof girder owing to limited head room had to be interlaced within the existing station roof girders and this complex work was planned and drawn by Budd was carried out at night after normal station activities ceased. Budd had his site office close to the construction area and was responsible for day to day works and its problems.
