Photograph of cinema designer John Stanley Beard aged 22 dated 1912. The Walpole was the very first cinema Beard designed, followed by the Palace cinema Kentish Town the following year 1913 and Majestic cinema Clapham in 1914. The first World War was declared. All building works ceased Beard’s next cinema after the War was the Palmadium, Palmers Green which opened on Christmas Eve 1920.
