Gail D Harrison on Facebook - What great time we had saturday night at the flicks in the 60 and across the road at connie
Shane Bourke on Facebook - It Used to be a beautiful cinema going back many years ago.
Christine Menegazzo on Facebook - It was called the Palais Theatre…I remember going with my parents and we saw Bye Bye Birdie, another movie I remember was Roustabout perhaps with Elvis 🙂 When that closed you could hire it to run dances as well. We organised a few with the Italian youth club in the 70s. Yes Faye always thought myself as many do that it could be like the Sun Theater in Yarraville. Train close by and parking at the back.
Shirley Loats on Facebook - My father and grandfather were the projectionists at the theatre there. I remember going up into the projection box after the movies were finished and helping Dad rewind the films by hand then taking them up to the station so they could go back to Melbourne on the first morning train.
My grandmother went every showing and sat in the second row upstairs. The first week they stopped the Tuesday night showing there was a huge storm and the roof fell in. Right onto the seat she would have been sitting in. They found out that the roof had never been attached to anything and for years just rested on the walls!
