Still there after the fire!
The fabric of the solidly built theatre survived the fire intact and a new theatre – the one I knew - was built inside.
I frequently visited Ballarat when I lived in Melbourne and always chose to stop off there (instead of using the freeway bypass) on later journeys between Adelaide and Melbourne, as it is a particularly attractive and architecturally impressive city with fine gardens. It also had the attraction, for me, of a tramway system. The inbound tram from Lydiard Street North is passing the Regent.
The moulding in the lower picture was part of the new Art Deco decor.
