Merrylands Hoyts Kinema was an early victim of the mass closures following the 1956 introduction of television in Sydney. An oil company purchased the site from Hoyts who had eventually become the owners. Last program was shown on Saturday 21 November 1959: Paramount’s Jerry Lewis comedy “The Geisha Boy” plus “Portland Expose”.
