alanlazarus on June 4, 2018 at 2:41am writes — The Camden theatre Was converted into a ten pin bowl (Brunswick Bowl) after being a cinema, but that failed and it became an indoor bowls club.
In its time it was Melbourne’s third biggest cinema; only the Regent in Collins Street (extant) and the Palais St Kilda (extant) were / are bigger.
The dress circle of the Camden was still used. As you’d expect, it’s upstairs via what appear to be original staircase, and it was a comfy place to watch the bowls. The club was open in the cooler months only.
