UA Coronet-Westwood (1990). Formerly UA Cinema Center (1972-1983), a 1983 remodel came with a name-change - to UA Coronet Cinemas (in honor of the SF single-screen?). There were other changes too. The box office was moved so that it would face Westwood Blvd. The remodeled, contemporary lobby included stunning forest-green carpet and futuristic, high-chrome finish, mirrored auditorium doors (a mylar coating or similar material, these doors, unfortunately, were susceptible to getting dented by the ushers and their broom handles). The snack bar also got an upgrade, including a striking, cream-colored, high-relief backdrop. All of these improvements were undone in the 1990s, of course. The theatre was re-named yet again - to United Artists Westwood. This UA Westwood is not to be confused with the original UA Theatre-Westwood on nearby Lindbrook, a single-screen that would eventually become the Mann Festival. The Coronet was an extremely busy complex in its day (but parking was difficult and it was a considerable walk from the center of Westwood Village).
