View of the Gaumont showing its Classical façades, on the right Haymarket traders stalls, left the large Art Deco Burton’s department store also in Portland stone cladding matching the cinema. This photograph was taken a few days before the Easter Bank Holiday film displayed above the entrance, “Darby O'Gill and the Little People” on Monday 18th April 1960. A few months later the Gaumont closed and was demolished.
