Ritz Cinema Dunstable
Photograph showing the cinema façade in 1962. To the right where once the Palace cinema stood is a new shop with flats built above in 1961. Over the cinema canopy there are now five windows viewed now that the neon fountain and ugly Union fin has been removed, (see previous photo) also the original stone relief ‘Goddess of Film’ is revealed. Iron balustrades are still in place fronting the Café windows, however, descending we see fluorescent lights replace the 1937 neon entrance lighting and all Coltman’s decorative still and display boards, ‘Gone with the Wind’ with boring plain alternatives.
