Electra Palace Cinema
Interesting view from the velvet covered circle front. The Electra screen is set back into a picture frame proscenium, fronted by the orchestra enclosure. Above the exits situated either side are a pair of framed Muses playing musical instruments. A central Cupola is featured which was lit from above the ornamental lower circular opening. The hand painted dome featured colourful cherubs amongst pastoral scenes looking down upon the audience below. The next four 1937 photographs give a faded view. The Electra auditorium was completely and sadly destroyed after the war in 1945 by its new owners, Capital & Provincial News Theatres.
