This is the 1927 25-inch OS map. The EMPIRE is there off Chalenor Street marked as a ‘Picture Theatre’
The property which housed the PRIORY cinema is probably the one marked ‘Hall’. It lasted from about 1916 to 1922 and would not, therefore, be a ‘Picture Theatre’ on the 1927 map. The 1913 map was was the same.
